Metro Vancouver has asked the provincial agriculture ministry to regulate the size and potential location of homes built on land within the ALR. their concern is regarding large estate homes that are taking up large parcels of ALR land and making farming difficult if not impossible. this seems it may be a valid problem for urban areas, but how will it affect the rest of the province? Will winery’s, packing houses and other types of estates be affected? the ministry of agriculture has opened the topic to  public discussion.
